In the morning of May 23rd, the President Forum of University Alliance of the New Silk Road was held in Xi’an Petroleum University. More than 200 university-presidents, distinguished guests, and scholars from 10 plus countries attended the Forum. President Cui of XUPT presided over the Theme Seminar, “New Idea, New Future — Co-establishing Higher Education Cooperation Platform ”, and he also made a keynote speech, “Relying on Information Discipline Advantage, Serving ‘One Belt, One Road’ Program ”.

TheForum of University Alliance of the New Silk Road was initiated by Xi’an Jiaotong University in January 2005, and it has been responded and supported actively by more than 22 universities all over the world, for instance, Harbin Institute of Technology, Xi’an University of Posts and Telecommunications, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University (BMSTU), Nazarbayev University in Alma-Ata, Kazakhstan, Ecole Supérieure d'Electricité, Polytechnic University of Milan in Italy, Liverpool University in Britain, University of Science and Technology in Pakistan, National University of Singapore, Pusan National University, Chiang Mai University and Tampere University of Technology in Finland. All the above universities join the alliance willingly, and the alliance is centered on ‘One Belt, One Road’ Program. It focuses on academic circles along the new Silk Road, and sets up a communication platform for universities in sharing and cooperation and mutual benefits. Through the exchange communication among universities, talent cultivation, scientific research cooperation, cultural exchange and think tanks establishment, it can boost the exchanges and cooperation between countries and regions along the Silk Road, and enhance the understandings and friendships between young people from different countries. It also aims at cultivate highly-competent people with global vision and cross-cultural communication, and serve the development of the countries and regions along the Silk Road.
